I L O V E watching old movies. I am on the hunt to find all the classics that I have not seen yet.

I hired a couple to watch over the weekend and one was Irving Berlin’s EASTER PARADE.

If you have a favourite classic movie let me know so I can add it to my list to watch!

(PS. If I’m ever walking in the rain I’d love to meet a handsome fella with an umbrella!)

WATCH: High School Musical Live on stage review (AUS)

Last night I had the opportunity to go and see High School Musical Live on Stage in Sydney. So here’s my review:

If you are an 8 year old girl you will LOVE IT, if you know an 8 year old girl you will enjoy it too! A slight adaption from the original so that it works better on stage but all in all it’s as HSM as ever. The sets were fantastic, lighting perfect, seamless transitions between live music and tracks, energetic performance and really great casting. The all Australian cast pull off American accents pretty well (except for one moment someone slipped back into Aussie for a line) the most outstanding cast member by far being Teagan Wouters as Sharpay.

The sound levels were fantastic when the whole ensemble were on stage and singing in full voice, and not so great when it was just Troy and Gabriella singing. Troy (Chris Durling) seemed to get drowned out by the ensemble at times and didn’t really lead them. When you are in a room full of pre-teens and chatty girls who simply cannot stay quiet and HAVE TO sing along, the sound really just needs to be turned up a notch. In the final number ushers at the theatre race down the aslies and dance near the front of the stage attempting to get the audience up and dancing…sounds like a good idea, not sure how other perfomances have been but last nights audience just wasn’t in for it. I dare say that as the sound was pretty quiet,  the kids in the audience would have been hushed by their parents all night so when it came time that they were supposed to sing and dance they thought they couldn’t.

All in all, it’s a fantastic show… take your whole family, buy some overpriced merchandise and don’t forget to sing along so you can annoy any other adults sitting near you!

Go Wildcats!

Watch: Australia

Baz is my kind of movie maker… Do it well or not at all and he has done VERY well on his latest movie.

Australia is not just a great movie, it is a great experience, I loved every moment of it. On tuesday night I called my trusty sidekick Bob and we packed a picnic and some bean bags and headed to the drive in for a movie under the stars. While everyone else at the drive in stayed in their cars we turned the car stereo up loud and unhooked some speaker boxes to invent our own surround sound. The sky was full of stars on this balmy Sydney night…perfect! (check out the pic!)

Unfortunatley I watched all the promotions for the movie before I went to see it and some breathtaking moments from the film were played a little too often in the previews so when it came to seeing them on screen it took away from their power. My parents are off to Gold Class to see it this weekend and hopefully Dad doesn’t fall asleep in the nice recliner chairs and hopefully mum doesn’t cry through all the movie emotional moments…(so embarrassing)!

Great movie…totally buying the DVD!!
